When Platform Lab was formed in 2001 as a partnership between the Ohio Supercomputer Center and the Business Technology Center (now TechColumbus) as the nation’s only non-profit IT testing facility, it was designed as an economical place where companies could test IT solutions so that they could get those solutions to market more quickly. Post 9/11 the demands of Platform Lab clients shifted dramatically. The new focus: disaster recovery plan validation.
Subsequently, thanks to a $1.164 million grant from the Ohio Third Frontier, Platform Lab expanded its statewide network which is interconnected with the Third Frontier network and offers clients a system for doing load and stress testing. And now, Platform Lab has built a private cloud that allows clients to do such testing using “virtual machines” that mimic what a client would see if physically present in the lab.
Read more about how Platform Lab has continued to transform itself to meet the needs of IT departments across the state and around the globe. See the story in hiVelocity
