The Ohio State University Medical center is looking for a senior programmer. Essential duties of the programmer would include the following:
- Create, document and perform routine database maintenance activities and procedures for Cache (Mumps) databases in a database administrator (DBA) role, such as running / verifying backups, analyzing statistics, ensuring database integrity, and creating database and file system space.
- Direct and coordinate Cache database monitoring and performance activities to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity are constantly maintained.
- Create physical database layouts and size all database objects as needed.
- Develop and test operating system tuning recommendations and database tuning parameters to ensure performance requirements are met.
- Craft and implement database backup and recovery procedures.
- Perform qualification and testing of database software and maintenance releases.
- Support database replication requirements.
- Perform setup of application software that utilizes Cache databases for end-user testing.
- Serve as a technical leader and coordinator as it concerns Cache database maintenance and support.
- Provide technical guidance to department, division and Medical Center management.
Education and Experience
- College degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5-7 years of database administration experience with 1-3 years experience managing InterSystems Cache databases, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of Epic Systems clinical application software preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices desired.
