Position Summary:

Effectively coordinates and monitors IT project activities for one or more implementation teams to complete projects within the constraints of scope, time, budget and quality.  Such projects may involve the implementation of new systems or substantial modification of existing systems.  Serves as liaisons between Northwoods and client to ensure all targets and requirements are met.  Not responsible for direct administrative supervision of staff.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Understands project contract terms such as, payment terms, performances, environmental and legal constraints, project scope and acceptance criteria
  • Coordinates the delivery and deployment of technologies, ensuring adherence to schedule deadlines, within budget and to the required standards
  • Consistent with approved project schedule, tracks and monitors task progress for project team resources on a weekly basis
  • Evaluates key project deliverables, as well as final product to ensure traceability of requirements, high quality and client acceptance
  • Communicates resource needs with the Project’s PM to ensure timely availability of project resources
  • Documents customer requests for changes outside the scope of the project and reports to Project’s PM for assessment
  • Identifies and documents project issues and risks. Assigns issues and risks to project team members for prompt resolution. Reports unresolved issues and risks appropriately to Project’s PM before issues are escalated by the customer
  • Manages day-to-day interaction with customer stakeholders
  • Proactively solicits input from customers regarding perceived implementation progress and success
  • Provides input for status reports and communicates project progress as required by the Project’s PM
  • When requested by the Project’s PM, communicates with external customers and other stakeholders
  •  regarding status, milestones, issue resolution and escalation
  • Assists Project’s PM in preparing agendas, status reports and presentations
  • Attends regular status meetings with customer and project teams
  • May hold project meetings with project team to discuss project status, timelines and obstacles to success
  • Files all project documents in project document repository
  • Work under close to moderate supervision with limited latitude for independent judgment
  • Other job related duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

 

  • Consult with senior peers on non-complex projects to learn through experience
  • Basic understanding of project management field with moderate level of proficiency
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to travel up to 75% of the time
  • Must be physically capable to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be physically capable of bending and accessing plugs and connections under desks, behind desks and in server rooms
  • Exceptional customer relation skills
  • Must have and maintain valid Driver License, reliable transportation and full coverage auto insurance
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Minimum Desired Competencies:

  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field or 2 years relevant experience with High School diploma
  • 1-3 years technical support experience
  • Completed coursework  from Project Management Institute a plus
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse work groups and individuals
  • Experience participating on cross-functional project teams a plus
  • Ability to exercise considerable individual judgment and initiative in coordinating project activities
  • Ability to develop initiatives in innovative manner for effective resolution
  • Good personal computer skills; proficient with MS Office applications
  • Basic Proficiency with Microsoft Project preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft  SharePoint, Microsoft Project Server and/or Project Web Access (PWA) desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
