QStart Labs, has announced its official endorsement of State Issue 1, a statewide ballot measure on the May 4 primary ballot that will renew Ohio’s most successful economic development and jobs program: the Ohio Third Frontier initiative.
Since its inception in 2002, the Ohio Third Frontier has created 48,000 new jobs and helped launch 571 new companies while supporting expansion of existing companies and generating $6.6 billion in economic activity across the state.
“The Ohio Third Frontier program gave QStart Labs the boost we needed to hire 10 full time employees in Columbus, Ohio and build a self-sufficient and growing web development company within 2 years of receiving funds.” said Kevin Hiser, President, QStart Labs, LLC. “We consider the funds invested in QStart Labs as a gift that keeps on giving since many of our clients are start-up companies that need to hire employees as we launch their businesses.”
About The Ohio Third Frontier Program:
The Ohio Third Frontier’s current funding mechanism, approved by voters in 2005, expires in 2012. Issue 1 will authorize $700 million in bonds to extend funding through 2016. Issue 1 will not raise taxes.
Through a competitive process, the Ohio Third Frontier makes targeted state investments in promising research, technologies, small businesses and entrepreneurs – investments that lead to new and expanded companies, new jobs and increased economic activity . Issue 1 has attracted broad bipartisan support, including both candidates for Governor and the vast majority of both Democrats and Republicans in the Ohio General Assembly, as well as individuals and organizations in most major sectors of Ohio’s economy.
