Qwirk Coworking celebrates 1st anniversary with Open House: Columbus’ first coworking space has proven its service can help entrepreneurs, startups, and freelancers launch and grow their business

February 24, 2010

With a mission to improve the lives of Columbus freelancers, startups and technology entrepreneurs who work at home or at coffee shops, Qwirk Columbus Coworking is proud to announce its 1st anniversary.

To celebrate its initial success --  and give even more workers the chance to discover what coworking looks like – Qwirk, located at 595 S. 3rd Street in German Village, will host an Open House on Friday, February 26th from 4-7pm. The Open House is the perfect occasion to learn about what we do, who we are, and the benefits we provide. The Open House will also feature an art show, plus food and beverages.

About Qwirk Coworking

Qwirk was started with one goal in mind, to provide a professional and affordable workspace where entrepreneurs, mobile workers, and freelancers could work and flourish, even in this economic downturn. A Qwirk membership runs only $275/month, which gives members 24/7/365 access to a dedicated desk, wifi, conference room, and kitchen (stocked with coffee). Members also benefit from business and social interaction on a daily basis.

Qwirk is currently home to a number of diverse and thriving businesses. These companies range from web developers and social media specialists to advertising agencies and attorneys. All different companies, but all have found Qwirk to be what they needed to launch and grow

Says Nate Riggs, principal and chief strategist of Social Business Strategies, “It's kind of a unique atmosphere here at Qwirk in that you have tons of opportunities to get to know and collaborate with a variety of different people.  It's not required and you can always close the door and have your privacy, but it is nice to have an office full of smart people who are always willing to bounce ideas around.  People are friendly and everyone is always willing to help. It's a really nice office culture."

“Qwirk is an ideal environment for our company,” says Stephanie Rucinski of JoeMetric (an iPhone application company). “From the plentiful meeting rooms to the opportunities to collaborate with other cutting edge businesses, Qwirk provides an office space that has been instrumental to our ability to succeed as a nimble startup.”

Artist collaboration

Qwirk has been collaborating with local art curator Juan Carrera to bring inspiration and beauty into our office.  For the past few months, Carrera has used Qwirk’s wall as gallery space -- displaying incredible works of art by artists such as Sarah Tangeman and Peggy Mintun. Mintun’s art is currently on display and she will be on hand during the Open House to answer any questions.
