Record Number of Semi-Finalists Vying for Top Awards at this Year’s TechColumbus Innovation Awards

As one more indicator of the strength of the region’s technology and innovation economy, forty percent more semi-finalists will be vying for the 13 first place awards at this year’s TechColumbus Innovation Awards.  More semi-finalists and more registered attendees indicate the continued advancement of Central Ohio as a center of innovation and growing technology hub.

Ted Ford, president and CEO of TechColumbus said,  “This growth and increased participation is purely a reflection of the momentum and heightened activity of the technology community in Central Ohio.”    
 
The countdown to the 2009 TechColumbus Innovation Awards gala has begun.  Reserved seating is currently on sale for the annual celebration which recognizes the outstanding achievements in technology leadership and innovation.  This year, from the largest pool of finalists in the event’s history, 13 individuals and teams will be honored, as well as promising student innovators. 

The awards are scheduled for February 4, 2010 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom.  A networking reception begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and awards following at 7 p.m.  Reserved tickets for tables and individuals are on sale now. 

“This event is really a celebration for the entire business community of Central Ohio,” says Ford.  “Yes, we may be focused on advancements in technology, but it’s these achievements that are contributing to the stabilization of our regional economy during the recession and the promise of future growth.” 

The event is open to the entire business community as a celebration of the advancements being made by companies, both large and small, that are impacting the local community and the world at large.
