Registration Opens for Columbus Startup Weekend 2012

January 5, 2012

Registration for the next Columbus Startup Weekend is now open.  The event, which is scheduled for February 17-19, 2012, will be held at TechColumbus.

Startup Weekend is an intense 54-hour event which focuses on building a Web or mobile application which could form the basis of a viable business over the course of a weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets - primarily software developers, graphic designers and business people - to build applications and develop a commercial case around them.  Startup Weekends, which are organized and held locally in communities all over the country, have been particularly popular in Central Ohio since the first event was held here in 2008.

The event will feature Derek Rey as keynote speaker.  Rey is the founder of Social Envy, a leading social engagement platform. Previously, Rey co-founded Adly, the largest celebrity endorsement platform in social media, representing over 1,400 celebrities worldwide. Rey began his career in Hong Kong where studied under one of Asia’s most respected entrepreneurs, Mila How. He returned to San Francisco to join Technorati, the leading blogosphere search engine and one of the first social media companies to embrace the “online conversation.”
