Progressive and fast paced Columbus Ohio startup is looking for a highly motivated Sales Associate to join our team and work in one of the fastest growing segments in our economy.

So here’s how you can help.

To help fuel our company’s growth, we need someone that can systematically canvass the “Smart Grid” landscape for us, and help us identify new business opportunities. To help you get off to a fast start, we have compiled a database of 3,400 companies that have already expressed a strong interest in learning more about the products and services we provide.

While we would be asking you to make outbound calls, we’re not asking you to master the art of the “cold call”. This is not about “closing the deal” over the phone. Instead, we’re asking the Sales Associate to reach out to our potential clients and communicate with them in a consultative fashion.

This involves calling the contacts in our database, understanding what they are doing with respect to the Smart Grid, evangelizing our solutions, and if appropriate, set up an appointment with one of our business development experts.

This will be the Sales Associate’s primary responsibility and the candidate will be expected to make 40-50 calls per day and set up 7-10 appointments per week.

Here’s a quick look at the roles and responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for helping drive EMS pilot projects (and sales) to Utility Companies associated with Plug Smart intelligent home energy management systems, Electric Vehicle Charging Stations and Electric Vehicle Readiness Assessments
  • Effectively communicate the Plug Smart value proposition to all stakeholder groups found within an electric utility
  • Quickly recognize, qualify and screen leads based on technical, financial, operational and sales and partnership criteria
  • Work closely with outside Business Development professionals to set them up with appointments with key decision makers that are in a position to recommend Plug Smart solutions.
  • Develop a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, email marketing, and social media.
  • Log and track all leads, contacts, request for proposals, non-disclosure documents and other important data and documents using an in-house intranet
  • Provide timely and accurate weekly reports highlighting number of calls, appointments and other important sales metrics

SKILLS

  • Strong ability to communicate Plug Smart value proposition clearly and professionally via phone and email.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize new business development opportunities in order to maximize sales productivity
  • Digitally savvy with strong proficiency in MS Office programs and using the Internet as a research and sales tool
  • Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize market opportunities in order to optimize daily sales productivity
