Expedient is now hiring a sales engineer to provide technical sales support for a team of account executives who will support the company’s growth into the Columbus, Ohio market.  Expedient is launching into the Upper Arlington (Columbus) market with our newest 19,500 sq. ft. data center.  This position will work in a team environment with access to other regional sales engineers to engage directly with customers, develop technical IT architectures, create accurate quotes for service and assist with company-wide product and service direction.

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and a broad technical acumen covering Microsoft, Linux, VMware and Cisco technologies, with an understanding of the underlying protocols and standards used in the operation of those technologies. He or she must also possess strong communication skills to speak with customers on a variety of technical levels. A strong desire to learn and expand on existing knowledge is required. Industry standard certifications are also a plus.  Travel requirements are 5% or less.
This full time position offers a competitive annual base pay plus commissions and benefits, including a 401(k) plan with a company match, paid time off, company holidays, medical, dental and vision plans and life insurance.  The sales engineer will report to the Sales Engineering Manager.

Job Duties:
•    Traveling with sales reps to visit prospective and existing clients, developing relationships with their technical and executive members.
•    Reviewing prospective and existing client environments, recommending service and technology to meet both their existing and anticipated needs.
•    Quote development with technical validation.
•    Support of marketing activities by attending trade shows and participating as a speaker in marketing events.
•    Development and presentation of sales documents and presentations to prospective and existing clients.
•    Sales representative training, including participation in workshops and development of technical sales documentation and testing instruments.
•    Participation in new product development, working with the operations and engineering staff to develop new service offerings based on market needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Experienced Required:
•    Either 2 – 4 years sales engineering experience in an information technology field; OR  
2 – 4 years systems administration background (Microsoft, LINUX or VMware) with excellent interpersonal skills.
•    Strong understanding of Internet/IP related technologies including, but not limited to, routing, switching and sub-netting.
•    Understanding of core ISP technologies such as DNS, SMTP, HTTP/S.
•    Knowledge of Fiberchannel/iSCSI/SAS storage arrays. Understanding of concepts such as RAID.

Qualifications Preferred:
•    B.S. in a technical discipline.
•    Experience with VMware.
•    Backup and backup related technology experience, with EMC Networker being preferred.
•    Experience with load balancing technologies such as F5 LTM and CITRIX NetScaler platforms.
•    Experience with database technologies such as MS SQL, MySQL or Oracle.
