SBIR and STTR Overview Workshops

Q: Where do small & start-up businesses get $$ to develop innovative new products & services?

A: The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) & Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs

PRODUCT R&D FUNDING FOR SMALL & START-UP BUSINESSES:

The SBIR & STTR programs provide over $2.5 billion annually to small businesses from 11 Federal agencies.  SBIR & STTR focus on innovative new ideas, many of which are technology- based, that can be converted into new products and services.  Some agencies, like the Dept of Defense and NASA, fund projects for their own internal use.  Other agencies, like National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, fund projects where the ultimate customer is someone else.
