Reporting to the Vice President of Research and Development, the newly created position of Sensor Product Design Engineer III will enable the development of new sensor concepts and products.
The scope of this position includes:
- Collaborate with the R&D team to design fixtures, equipment, processes and sensor packaging for proof of concept articles
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to move the results from sensor research into manufacturable sensors and then into production
- Maintain sensor product designs through the product lifecycle
- May include LABVIEW software for experimental data collection
- May require running tests and project management with outside vendors
Key Responsibilities:
- Design sensor packaging and processes for proof of concept electronic and optical sensors
- Design and install R&D/proof of concept fixturing
- Present R&D initiatives to management
- Transfer proof of concept sensors and processes to manufacturing engineers
- Compose design and manufacturing assembly process documents
- Use the Design Binder process, write draft bills of materials and assembly documents
- Support ongoing evolution, customization and maintenance of sensor products
