| Description | The Ohio State University Informatics Research & Development (IR&D) group is seeking innovative software developers to join our team in support of our mission to design, implement, deploy and support state-of-the-art platforms to enable basic, clinical, translational and operations research. We are seeking candidates across the full spectrum of software development expertise, from fresh college graduates eager to learn to experienced senior developers. Our software development team collaborates with biomedical subject matter experts to obtain a problem definition and develop requirements. Our team members collaboratively investigate and apply leading-edge technologies (e.g., Semantic Web), architectural styles (e.g., SOA), algorithms (e.g., semantic reasoning) and security practices (e.g., web services security) to develop use-case driven novel information systems. All of our software is developed in collaboration with partners and adopters, and as a result is open source. We also participate extensively in promoting and disseminating IR&D’s novel platforms at biomedical informatics conferences around the world. Our software development language of choice is Java. We practice agile development methodologies and test heavily to produce production-quality software. A strong candidate should possess knowledge of service-oriented architecture and web services, a strong foundation in CS concepts (data structures, synchronization, networking, UML and design patterns), and have demonstrated best-practice Java software development experience. We are currently seeking developers who have impressive experience and strong interest in any of the following focus areas: o Web services standards and open-source implementations o Service-oriented architecture (SOA) o Web application development with open source frameworks o Semantic Web (RDF, SPARQL) and Ontologies Please send your resume to informatics.careers@osumc.edu and indicate the aforementioned applicable focus areas in your subject line.
