Our Permanent Placement Division has an exciting opportunity for a SQL Server Developer/DBA with a rapidly growing startup! POSITION DESCRIPTION Manages all aspects of the various SQL Server databases that will be hosted centrally and at multiple customer sites and ensures the databases are available 24/7. Works with software developers to design and architect database solutions. Works with software developers to document best practices and ensure standards are met. Works with Quality team to develop testing scenarios and test data population. Provides on and off-site support for customers. Some travel required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responsibilities will include day-to-day DBA activities as well as an active role in database design and development: * Develop stored procedures for performing specific business tasks * Assist developers with the design\architecture of the database(s) * Assist developers with performance tuning of stored procedures and LINQ to SQL queries * Monitor performance of the databases at each customer site (e.g. monitor Dynamic Management Views for index and execution trouble spots, review SQL Response logs for deadlocks and blocks, etc.) * Write ad-hoc T-SQL scripts as requested by management, Quality staff and/or process engineers * Setup and manage the SQL Reporting Servers at each customer site * Write, test and deploy SSRS reports * Assist customers if database or data issues arise * Ensure daily backups are successful * Ensure mirrored and replicated servers are up-to-date and functioning properly * Create a centralized datawarehouse to pull data from multiple customer sites * Assist with the design and architecture of sending operational data between sites during disaster scenarios * Assist with the design and architecture of reference tables that are shared across sites * Document database standards and hold developers accountable for adhering to those standards (i.e. hold review sessions) * Create scripts for test data and assist Quality staff and software staff with running tests * Document process for managing database structure rollouts and assist with software releases * Administer data archival processes * Manage touch points between the database and HL7 interfaces ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed. TRAVEL 10-20% travel PHYSICAL DEMANDS Nature of work requires an ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents operating standard business office equipment. Majority of time spent concentrating on a computer screen coding, debugging and testing developed programs. WORKING CONDITIONS Work performed in an open environment. Requires ability to maintain focus while dealing with distractions, noise and interruptions. Requires availability for extended hours during peak periods.
