Education
  • Master’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline with an information technology focus; MBA degree or equivalent.

  • Extensive formal training in project management practices; PMP Certification required.

Experience
  • Ten (10) or more years experience including management experience; 5 or more years of Project/Program Management experience leading medium to large projects or multiple projects required.

  • Business unit experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving

  • Technical management experience in a dynamic high-technology environment — key success factor

  • Superior analytical and written/oral communication skills; extensive facilitation

  • Formal training with multiple lifecycle methodologies

  • • Proficient knowledge of Project Management tools: Microsoft Project (or Clarity Open Workbench), VISIO, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • • Strong management and development skills needed.

The SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER has responsibility for planning, directing, and implementing large/high complex application programs and projects on an enterprise level. This individual ensures that program goals are aligned with the patient care mission, research and education mission and OSUMC IT objectives, and that programs are accomplished within set objectives of cost, schedule, scope, quality and benefits.

The Senior Project Manager position is responsible for managing cross-functional project teams of OSUMC IT resources that will develop and carry out both internal IT and OSUMC program level activity. Manage major program and project deliverables, ensuring the team’s division of responsibility, cohesiveness, productivity, consistency and progress of delivery and communication across the enterprise.

Duties include, but not limited to:

Program Management

  • Manage all phases of enterprise-wide/high complexity programs and projects. Manage competing demands relevant to scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality; and organizational change management and learning. Understand differing stakeholder requirements and expectations.
  • Project management: Direct program and project development from initiation to close using a combination of project management and standard software development life cycle methodologies, skills, tools and techniques. Track milestones and deliverables; identify and manage dependencies and critical path.
  • Scope management: Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with OSUMC IT senior executive and stakeholders. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans.

Relationship Management

  • Build, develop, and grow many business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Serve as internal and external focal point for program coordination.
  • Perform program governance activities and establish proper organizational structure to coordinate, track and report on multiple project and sub-projects; integrating linkages from vendor/consulting partners.

Resource Management

  • Determine and assess need for staff and/or consultants.
  • Participate in recruitment activity with manager and HR as necessary.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
  • Manage resource constraints.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
