Plans are underway for Startup Weekend Columbus 4 (SWC4) January 14-16, 2011 at Gerlach Hall on the Ohio State campus. TechColumbus is partnering in SWC4 and encourages all budding entrepreneurs and business developers in Central Ohio to register early in order to secure their space at this dynamic event. Chirs Anderson, director of venture development for TechColumbus, will once again be helping organize and facilitate SWC4.
SWC4 will bring together entrepreneurs, developers, IT professionals and practitioners from a variety of disciplines including legal, business formation, marketing and others to allow for a comprehensive approach to business creation and launch. SWC is a unique business formation bootcamp that seeks to take companies from idea to launch within 54 hours over the course of one weekend.
Four companies launched at previous SWCs are still in operation today. These include ClearWish (an online wish list service), Corkshare (an online bulletin board for sharing notes, photos, videos and other content between small groups), YourMillion (an online business productivity tools provider for small businesses) and EventStart (an event planning and management suite of tools).
Although this is the 4th Startup Weekend in Columbus, it’s the first one to be hosted at OSU and organizers are hoping to bring together undergraduate and graduate students across schools/colleges at the University for the opportunity to build companies and catalyze the community.
