The Ohio Department of Development has awarded two Central Ohio companies with financial incentives anticipated to help these companies create 31 jobs in the region. Argus International has been awarded $1.2 million from the Innovation Ohio Loan Fund (IOLF) to develop software for a new and industry-leading airline management system. The more than $1.6 million project is expected to create 12 jobs. The IOLF assists existing Ohio companies in developing next-generation products in industry sectors that include: advanced materials; instrument, controls, and electronics; power and propulsion; biosciences; and information technology.
Celartia, Ltd. has been awarded a 45 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a six-year term as a result of the company’s project in Dublin or Hilliard. Celartia designs and manufactures laboratory equipment for cell culture, which is the science and art of growing human, animal and plant cells in a laboratory environment. The more than $390,000 project is expected to create 19 jobs. The approval of this tax incentive indicates the state’s commitment to Celarita, and precedes a final decision of the company to accept or decline the offer.
“Companies are choosing to invest in Ohio because we have the lowest business taxes in the Midwest and a highly skilled workforce that, taken to together, create a competitive advantage for businesses looking to expand,” says Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. “We are committed to continuing to improve the state’s business climate and partnering with companies to help them grow and create jobs for Ohioans.”
