Experience
  • 5+ years experience within Infrastructure/SAN environment.
  •  Experience with IBM SVC, IBM TPC (Tivoli Productivity Center)
  • Experience with Xiotech Storage or other equivalent SAN storage technologies.
  • Experience with IBM DS8xxx Storage
  • Experience with engineering in a Tiered Storage Architecture
  • Experience z/OS Mainframe storage operations
  • Experience in creating storage environment metrics and performance reports.
  • Experience with virtual tape backup systems - EVault, Netbackup, TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager)
  • Able to prepare presentations and teach, train other team members.
  • Clear understanding of Windows file structures.
  • Experience with Archiving, Data Management, or Information Life Cycle strategies.
  • Experience with working with vendors to investigate and recommend hardware technologies.
  • Experience with change management processes.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
Description

FTE position in Columbus: The Systems Support Engineer will be part of the Storage Team within IT Infrastructure and Operations. This position will join a new team expected to engineer, support, administer, and maintain all storage related technology. This includes all storage devices and applicable software (i.e. tape, DASD, SAN, EVault, etc.) for both the distributed and mainframe environments. This team’s responsibilities include: Provisioning storage to systems and applications. Ensuring storage capacities at the proper tier are made available on time. Maintaining and monitoring storage performance and planning. Maintaining and monitoring storage capacity and planning. Performing and validating system backups and replication.

Under general direction designs, deploys, supports, monitors and tunes server hardware, operating systems and middleware for optimum performance and availability. Initiative: Competent to work on defined tasks and problems with minimal guidance. Planning: Able to define long term plans for the completion of moderately complex projects by factoring in dependencies and constraints. Able to handle competing priorities during situations when multiple problems exist. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of systems. 2. Recommends and implements enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system. 3. After hours support and on-call responsibilities may be required 4. Develop and maintain documentation library.
