Cleantech/Greentech researchers and entrepreneurs will gather next week at the annual Fuel Cell Symposium to explore new advances and ways of continuing to effectively commercialize and capitalize on this growing global industry.
Ohio is internationally recognized as a global center for fuel cell research, development and deployment and is committed to continuing the advancement of its fuel cell industry to create and attract 21st century businesses and jobs. Through programs such as the Ohio Third Frontier, the state has invested more than $88 million in 95 projects since 2002. Estimates indicate these investments have been leveraged by more than $300 million of follow-on funding.
Central Ohio’s stake in the Cleantech/Greentech industry continues to advance each year. A recent report published by TechColumbus indicates that, in 2010, the Cleantech/Greentech sector accounted for nearly $52 million of earliest-stage innovation capital in the region. This represented nearly 46 percent of the total innovation capital funding for the region’s earliest-stage companies (those in the seed, early and growth stages).
The Fuel Cell Symposium is scheduled for April 18-19 at Kent State Stark University’s campus in North Canton. For more details see the release.
