DUBLIN, Ohio, January 18, 2010 – Sypherlink, Inc., has hired industry veteran Jim Pingel as NIEM Business Development Manager within the company’s Justice & National Security Practice. The company also announced its justice practice leader, Rehan Chawdry, has been selected to lead training on the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) during the upcoming Eastern Region NIEM Practical Implementer’s Course.
“Jim has spent his career designing and managing standards-based information sharing programs for federal, state and local criminal justice organizations,” said Sypherlink CEO, James Paat. “His knowledge and understanding of the goals and challenges public safety agencies face when implementing these programs will strengthen our practice offerings and enhance the solutions we provide our customers and partners.”
According to Pingel, Sypherlink’s dedication to standards-based information sharing and the company’s ability to quickly and successfully operationalize information sharing programs are key reasons he’s joining the firm. "Sypherlink is in a unique position to help government overcome the challenges – and realize the potential of – information-sharing.”
According to Paat, Pingel will focus on developing and managing relationships with key partners and prospects within the industry, with the goal of providing integrated Sypherlink NIEM solutions. Pingel will work within the company’s dedicated Justice & National Security Practice, which is focused solely on providing the software, services, and expertise required to implement NIEM and is currently working with multiple local, regional, state and federal agencies to implement successful NIEM-based information exchanges.
Prior to joining Sypherlink, Pingel worked for the Integrated Justice Information Sharing (IJIS) Institute serving as the NIEM business architecture manager within the NIEM Program Management Office, jointly supported by the US Departments of Homeland Security and Justice. In this role, he was focused on improving and promoting the NIEM standard within industry and government organizations nationwide.
Prior to his role with the IJIS Institute, Pingel served as director of the Wisconsin Integrated Justice Information Sharing (WIJIS) program where he helped to launch the state’s successful WIJIS Justice Gateway and expand the state’s use of the NIEM standard.
In related news, Rehan Chawdry, Sypherlink justice & national security practice leader, was selected to lead the upcoming Eastern Region NIEM training engagement, where he will deliver strategies for implementing data sharing exchanges based on the NIEM standard.
Paul Wormeli, executive director of the IJIS Institute said, “Rehan was selected from a number of resumes submitted by our member companies for the position of trainer for the NIEM Practical Implementers course. He was selected because of his extensive skills not only in training but also his knowledge of NIEM. We are pleased to have Rehan lead this course.”
The three-day course, organized by the IJIS Institute, will provide best practices and case studies for nationwide implementation and use of NIEM in a variety of domains, including justice, public safety, homeland security, health and human services, maritime, courts, and corrections. The course is being held January 26-28, 2010 in Ashburn, Va.
