Syscom Expanding Product Line to Meet Demands of Aerospace Industry

June 16, 2011

Central Ohio technology company, Syscom Advanced Materials, has gained a strong foothold in the aerospace industry.  Its first product offering, Amberstrand Fiber, is widely used in products crafted by Glenair, a California-based maker of electrical connector accessories for aircraft.

Recently the company introduced its new Liberator fiber, which uses a different polymer than Amberstrand, and provides strength, flexibility and weight savings far superior to nickel coated copper wire which has traditionally been used for the approximately 200 miles of wiring in a typical plane.

Syscom, which has added 12 new jobs to the region in the past three years, is headquartered in the TechColumbus incubator and was a recipient in 2010 of a TechGenesis grant to further the development of the Liberator fiber.
