(Columbus, OH – September ##, 2011)  – TechColumbus today announced internship funding available through the Central Ohio Third Frontier Internship Program (COTFIP) which is aimed at linking Ohio students enrolled in high-tech curriculums with internship opportunities at Central Ohio businesses. TechColumbus is one of 8 regional grantees throughout Ohio administering the program and has been designated to administer the program in Central Ohio.

“The Central Ohio Third Frontier Internship Program connects talented students with dynamic companies in an effort to heighten our area’s high-tech capabilities and position the region for long-term growth,” said Ted Ford, president and CEO of TechColumbus. “The goal is to build a strong pipeline of talented technology workers for the future and to enrich students with valuable work experiences that lead to employment in Central Ohio after graduation.”

The program reimburses participating businesses 50 percent of the intern’s wages, up to $3,000 for a 12-month period. Businesses must provide internships in the areas of advanced manufacturing, advanced materials, bioscience, information technology, instruments, controls and electronics, or power and propulsion.
