Experience
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 4-6 years of experience as a pre-Sales Systems Engineer in a complex managed hosting, virtualization or network services environment.

  • Knowledge of industry best practices and generally accepted data center principles focusing on data center facilities, infrastructure and cloud computing

  • Must be able to Architect and Design solutions to be implemented by post-sales engineers

  • Familiarity and expertise with virtualization products such as VMWare ESX.

  • A deep knowledge of IP networking concepts and products, such as routers, switches and load balancers - this is a Cisco based environment

  • Blade Server experience – Cisco UCS preferred

  • Experience with migrating customer workloads to public and/or private clouds

  • Service provider cloud experience

  • Knowledge of security products and technologies such firewalls.

  • Familiarity with network data storage products including SAN and NAS. EMC Clariion and NetApp preferred

  • Ability to understand, collect and communicate customer requirements to product management.

  • Ideal candidates will also understand Linux and Windows platforms.

Description

A Columbus based, financially stable, organization is looking for a Technical Sales Engineer with in-depth, real world experience in a data center / hosted environment. This person will be supporting 2 – 3 sales representatives as a Pre-Sales Engineer and must be knowledgeable about Hosted and Cloud Computing models and solutions. The individual will not be responsible for implementation of solutions, but will be architecting and designing the customer solution that the infrastructure team must then deliver.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and defines the prospect's business requirements, needs, and objectives, and creates a design that exemplifies how solutions can best meet the prospect's requirements.

  • Manages highly complex/visible pre-sales support of solutions, products/systems. Provides presales technical support to large/complex sales presentations, product demonstrations and responsible for design and architecture of solutions.

  • Able to assist in facilitating the sales process and service solution lifecycle

  • Ability to collaborate - superior interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to win the confidence of individuals both within and outside of the organization.

  • Provides further clarification to the prospect through follow up phone calls, and additional demonstrations.

  • Communicates the business requirements to project/implementation team after completion of sale to ensure a smooth transition from presales to implementation stages, warranting a continuous degree of customer satisfaction.
