QUALIFICATIONS : -Know how to use social media effectively -Understand the costs and benefits of new communication technologies -Know and understand different technology standards -Understand and effectively use Boolean searches -Know how to maintain hardware and software -Understand computer networking, including wireless networks -Ability to use various software editing audio, video and images -Know html and related web technologies -Understand and have the ability to apply computational thinking in daily life -Ability to quickly pick up knowledge to use different software like an expert -Understand and have experience with the Android ecosystem -Education, Communications or Computer Science degree preferred but not required. -Possess basic knowledge and/or have experience leading, coaching, or teaching groups. -Excellent communication and presentation skills. -Previous experience working with diverse populations and/or urban teenagers a plus.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Camp IT is a collaborative effort between Lead the Way and Tech Corps Ohio. Camp IT is about exploring and understanding the life in the 21.2 century. It will expose campers to the labor market that is consistently in shortage of qualified workers in an economy where jobs are hard to find. The campers will learn how to be more independent, more logical, more strategic and most of all, how to make the best of themselves. In that process, they will learn the basics of using social networks effectively, high growth careers, searching efficiently, maintaining your computer, computer networks, editing media, web development, game development, and app development.
POSITION SUMMARY: 6 week Contract Assignment
•         Camp Instruction (June 27th - August 5th, 2011, 8:30am – 12:30pm OR 1:00pm – 5:00pm)
•         Four Days Orientation Sessions (June 14th – June 17th, 9:00am – 4:00pm)
•         Weekly Meetings (1-1.5 hours)
WAGES: $22.50/hour
LOCATION: Camp IT will be offered at the following locations.
•         Tech Corps Ohio (112 Jefferson Ave, Columbus, OH 43215)
•         Whitehall HS (625 South Yearling Road, Columbus, OH 43213)
•         Central Crossing HS (4500 Big Run South Road, Grove City, OH 43123)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Camp IT instructor is primarily responsible for assisting youth with the successful completion of the Camp IT summer work experience. The Camp IT instructor is also responsible for administrative oversight, supervising, and managing all aspects of the Camp IT at your assigned location. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
•         Provide supervision and support to Camp IT students using the Camp IT materials.
•         Contact any student who has an unexplained absence to discuss progress, offer assistance, and encourage retention including documenting contact with absent students.
•         Conduct any and all activities necessary to retain 90% of all assigned students.
•         Develops and submit 100% of documentation and progress forms for 100% of assigned students in accordance with directed timeline requirements.
•         Prepare and submit 100% of student-related forms (weekly, bi-weekly and/or monthly student evaluations; student/attendance forms; tracking and information forms, informal assessments, and other required student-related documents) for 100% of assigned students in accordance with directed timeline requirements.
•         Immediately notify Lead the Way Placement Specialist of any and all support services that students may need. Document referrals made.
•         Notify immediate Placement Specialist of all student absences the same day the absence occurs.
•         Meet every work-day session promptly and prepared for coaching sessions/instruction.
•         Coordinate and implement work in an orderly and professional manner.
•         Set-up and clean-up worksite at the beginning and at the end of each workday.
•         Confirm that all materials are prepared for coaching sessions.
•         Enforce rules and regulations and apply appropriate disciplinary measures as needed.
•         Observe necessary precautions to ensure the safety of program participants and maintain a clean, professional looking environment.
•         Returns materials supplied by Lead the Way and TECH CORPS Ohio.
•         Perform other duties as assigned
