Venture Capital Investing Shows Strong Increase as Investments in CleanTech Double

Venture Capital investing experienced a 50 percent increase in dollars invested during the first half of 2010.  Growth in investments in clean technology helped significantly drive this growth.  CleanTech investing doubled in Q2 as compared to Q1 and marked the largest quarterly increase on record for the sector.  Life sciences (biotechnology and medical device industries) saw a notable increase in VC investing for the quarter, jumping 52 percent in dollars and 32 percent in deals funded. 

In total venture capitalists invested $6.5 billion in 906 deals in 2Q according to the MoneyTree Report from Pricewaterhouse Coopers and the National Venture Capital Association.
