Women for Economic and Leadership Development (WELD) announced its 12 Women You Should Know for 2011. Among those honored was TechColumbus’ own Allison Finkelstein, senior director of funds management. Allison was recognized for her leadership in supporting and mentoring entrepreneurs in Central Ohio. Among her accomplishments, Allison has helped double the number of women angels active in Ohio TechAngels and has helped to make the group one of the most diverse angel groups in the US. Allison says the key to success in business is communication and she advises young professionals to find something they can be passionate about and to take advantage of all opportunities that come their way.
Some of the other women honored included Velda Otey, former CIO of AEP, Shelley Bird, EVP of public affairs for Cardinal Health and Amy Marshall, co-owner and COO, Webbed Marketing.
For the sixth year, WELD will recognize these women by creating a calendar featuring their accomplishments. This year, 5,000 calendars will be distributed to businesses, organizations, civic and community leaders to showcase the talent and success of Central Ohio’s professional women.
Congratulations to Alison and all the other Women You Should Know.
