Youth WEB CORPS is a collaborative effort between Lead the Way and TECH CORPS Ohio. Youth WEB CORPS is a six week “summer job experience” for Franklin County TANF-eligible, in-school youth, ages 14-18 years old. This experience is designed to strengthen students’ web development, project management and professionalism skills and to apply those skills in the authentic task of building a website for a small business or organization located in Franklin County. Students work 20/hours a week and earn $8.00/hour.
Eligible youth apply to participate in the program and are assigned to one of the Youth WEB CORPS locations. Each cohort (25 students) is supported by a Lead Job Coach/Mentor and an Assistant Job Coach/Mentor. Job Coach/Mentors meet with their students Monday – Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm or 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm (depending on the location.) The Youth WEB CORPS work experience runs from June 28, 2010 to August 6, 2010.
Position Summary: 6 week Temporary Assignment: June 28th -August 6th, 2010, 8:00am – 1:00pm or 12:30pm – 5:30pm (depending on location); plus two Orientation Sessions (June 23, 8:00am – 12:00pm and June 24, 8:00am – 4:00pm) and Client Orientation Session (July 8, 6:00pm – 7:30pm)
Hours/Wage: Lead Job Coach/Mentor: $30.00/hour -- 25/hours a week (additional responsibilities include administrative tasks/paperwork)
Assistant Job Coach/Mentor: $25.00/hour -- 25/hours a week

QUALIFICATIONS
- Web development and administrative skills including but not limited to HTML, CSS, PHP, CMS (Joomla), SEO, and MySQL.
- Must have experience using different hosting panels.
- Must have experience with industry standard and open source image, audio and video manipulation software.
- Computer literate in Microsoft, Lotus, Corel, and other industry applications.
- Education, Communications or Computer Science degree preferred but not required.
- Possess basic knowledge and/or have experience leading, coaching, or teaching groups.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Previous experience working with diverse populations and/or urban teenagers a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Youth WEB CORPS Job Coach/Mentor is primarily responsible for assisting youth with the successful completion of the Youth WEB CORPS summer work experience. The Youth WEB CORPS Job Coach/Mentor is also responsible for administrative oversight, supervising, and managing all aspects of the Youth WEB CORPS at your assigned location. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide supervision and support to Youth WEB CORPS students using the Youth WEB CORPS web development materials.
- Support and mentor youth as they interact with clients and peers.
- Support youth project teams with the successful completion of the client website including monitoring youth work performance and recommending modifications web site designs as needed.
- Contact any student who has an unexplained absence to discuss progress, offer assistance, and encourage retention including documenting contact with absent students.
- Conduct any and all activities necessary to retain 90% of all assigned students.
- Develops and submit 100% of documentation and progress forms (web project results) for 100% of assigned students in accordance with directed timeline requirements.
- Prepare and submit 100% of student-related forms (weekly, bi-weekly and/or monthly student evaluations; student/attendance forms; tracking and information forms, informal assessments, and other required student-related documents) for 100% of assigned students in accordance with directed timeline requirements.
- Immediately notify Lead the Way Supervisor of any and all support services that students may need. Document referrals made.
- Notify immediate supervisor of all student absences the same day the absence occurs.
- Meet every work-day session promptly and prepared for coaching sessions/instruction.
- Coordinate and implement work in an orderly and professional manner.
- Set-up and clean-up worksite at the beginning and at the end of each workday.
- Confirm that all materials are prepared for coaching sessions.
- Enforce rules and regulations and apply appropriate disciplinary measures as needed.
- Observe necessary precautions to ensure the safety of program participants and maintain a clean, professional looking environment.
- Returns materials supplied by Lead the Way and TECH CORPS Ohio.
- Perform other duties as assigned
